Introduction
Boring QR Codes is a small, local-first web app that generates colorful block-style QR codes from a URL or any text. It was inspired by the colorful QR code stickers found around the MTA in New York City. Paste a payload, pick a palette, shuffle the layout, then download the code as SVG or PNG, or copy it to the clipboard.

How the symbol is drawn
Dark modules, except for the three finder patterns, are greedily merged into larger rectangles. The size of each rectangle is randomized with a seeded PRNG and painted from the selected palette. The merged rectangles cover exactly the same modules as the original matrix, so every code still scans.
